Made from 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Shiraz the 1998 season was near optimum, with slightly above average temperatures being recorded and yet again well below average rainfall. The warmer season produced very ripe fruit in excellent condition. Deep crimson with purple tinge in colour with a nose of rich berry and hints of mint and subtle cedar. A balanced, well rounded palate with excellent weight and soft lingering tannins. The wine displays great character, good varietal definition and warm generous flavours. A vintage year that will be recorded among the best for Coonawarra. |
